MA
The Master of Art degree (M.A.) is an advanced academic degree in the arts, humanities, and sciences. It may also be awarded as an interdisciplinary degree in conjunction with a master’s degree from another university or college. The M.A. is typically awarded to students who have completed one or more graduate-level course work or an extensive research project on a particular topic in the arts or humanities, but who do not yet possess a bachelor’s degree. In some countries, it may also be awarded as part of three-year bachelor’s degree program after completion of two years at a university or college.
Unlike the PhD and EdD degrees which are essentially professional doctorates, the M.A. is primarily intended for students pursuing careers in teaching and research in fields such as art history, political science, musicology and sociology.
